Texts From Other Cultures

I think that studying texts from different cultures is worthy, because it does provide insight on other culture, but at the same time, more related to other courses, like World Studies or Anthropology. I would say that overall, texts from other cultures are worthy of study. I say this because I believe it is important for people to have a deeper knowledge and understanding of the world outside their own little bubble. If the majority of people had a deeper knowledge of the rest of the world, the 'global community' may be a lot stronger, less divided, and the number of conflicts between countries, or even within them, may be decreased greatly. For this reason, I do think that texts from other cultures are worthy, and important for people to know about. My only concern is that they are being studied in the wrong course. English, to me, should be about the text itself and not completely focused on where the text comes from.
