Do you think studying texts from different cultures is worthy? Why or why not?

Do you think studying texts from different cultures is worthy? Why or why not?

I believe it is worthy because studying other cultures may be beneficial as to the way other cultures think as well. It gives students a chance to see what it's like in other parts of the world, and how people think differently compared to where they live within their lifetime. This is also beneficial to the students and others who have an interest in Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology and any other fields that study the human mind and the way people think throughout the world. I also believe that it could be very informational, or educational, because people should have a knowledge and be aware about what is the norms of other cultures and not only their own. If the citizens within a culture has no knowledge of other cultures, this may result in a conflict between two different societies, with no understanding of the other. Finally, reading or studying about other cultures may make the individual more open-minded about what is normal, or abstract. If people could understand what it's like in other societies then they may be more open towards others.
