do you think studying texts from different cultures is worthy?

Studying texts form different cultures is worthy because it introduces people to ideas and traditions in other counties.  Reading about different cultures gives people an understanding about what is acceptable around the world.  For example in the Kite Runner what is acceptable for a woman in society is very different than what is acceptable for a woman in American society.  Woman are not allowed to talk to men on the street in Afghan culture unlike American culture when people can talk freely to who ever they want.    Studying texts from different cultures gives us a perspective on different cultures, readers get to see cultures from the eyes of the people that live in the society.  Seeing how different it is from american society and traditions such as even just food and clothing.  in conclusion it is important for people to study texts from different cultures to get perspective and understanding.
