Is it worthy? Should we study texts from another culture?

It is worthy, but only in the sense of "Texts". And that's the way it should be. By saying it's "Texts From Another Culture", the focus is easily shifted from the text to the last two words of the last said quotation. By adding the label "From Another Culture", the text becomes trivial and becomes a muted bunch of jumbled sentences and words. The entire structure of the text becomes broken down by the "Culture" aspect of it, and the text loses its meaning. If we really wanted "From Another Culture" we would take World Studies, History or another class that has to do solely on the purpose of "From Another Culture". English as it is, should be more about the "Text" aspect, focusing on what we're reading and what's in front of us, caring about the hard work and effort someone put into writing something, and not the background of where the hard work comes from. But unfortunately, that's "Evolution", we toss the meaning and the beauty of fiction and non-fiction, of poems and novels, straight out the window and go for the thoughts of the author and wanting his ideas by asking silent questions and mailing invisible letters. Instead, we should be reading to enjoy first, and second analyzing solely on what we read. By bringing in the "From Another Culture" books like The Book Thief and To Kill A Mockingbird become America and Germany. Even this year's novel The Kite Runner has become Afghanistan and not a proper novel, and why? Because we add and shift all of the focus from "Texts" to "From Another Culture". I'm not trying to explain how other cultures, I'm not trying to explain the concept of teaching or cultures or school courses. I'm trying to explain that if it's really supposed to be "Texts From Another Culture" their should be no shift in focus, and no confusion or frustration in what we're doing. The focus shouldn't be favoring one over the other and "Texts" should not be different from "From Another Culture". When we're reading these, it should be worthy to be in the English classroom because we focus on the "Text" aspect in the same way we SHOULD be making a connection to the world when talking about "From Another Culture" and NOT making the book reflect the country/culture more. Make the study on the "Text" with an equal relation to the "From Another Culture" and not one favoring the other so one becomes meaningless.
