Yes, I think studying texts from different cultures is worthy.
I think it is very important to learn this because you will get a better understanding of how others of different cultures live their lives every day. You learn how other people view life, their beliefs, and what they have to deal with every day. Also, you may become more grateful for how your life is, in comparison to the others that don’t have what you have. Canada is a multicultural country, and some Canadians don’t realize how lucky they are to be living in such a safe place. By reading texts from different cultures, we learn to appreciate the safety of our home land a lot more. After reading The Kite Runner and learning more about the dangers and way of life in Afghanistan, I have a better appreciation for where I live, because it is so safe compared to that.
