Do you think studying texts from different cultures is worthy? Why or why not?

    I think that it is worthy because, it gives us the chance to see how they live through their eyes. When I view others culture I get my first view on it through stereotypes. I see them as being very different then myself because they come from a different country, eat different food, and wear different clothes.  Being able to read the book the Kite Runner has changed this view for me. I see  Amir as a relatable character with his feelings of how reading and writing change his views on the world; he is able to create things and it makes people happy. I never would have found this connecting to someone very different from myself without being able to read this book. It has given me the chance to see how Amir being a refugee from another country is no different of a person from myself.
